Your Bridegroom, Jesus, is closer to you than you can comprehend. Yeshua is His Hebrew Name. After you received Him (John 1:12-13), you became His child. He surrounds you, but then came in you. Look for Him. Peer through your tangible surroundings to see Him there. Look all around for Him. Your loving Savior wants you to develop an increased awareness of His presence and His voice calling out in love every single moment.
He speaks to us through everything each day. He speaks through Scripture, revelation, and the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. He speaks through the desires of your heart as you seek to align your life to His written love letter, the Bible. The Scripture is your key assurance of truth, and nothing He speaks will contradict it.
He speaks to you through His tangible gifts of creation and nature. Recently, I took a walk in the park and decided to “peer”… to intentionally look closely at what He might be speaking. A very old man was walking very slowly, bent over with his head covered with a hood. He kindly greeted me with a smile and continued shuffling down the path. I stopped to notice him looking through his binoculars at various happenings in the winter woods. Was he looking at birds or branches? He stopped at length by the lovely-sounding brook. Then, he pulled a branch down from a tree to look intently at it with his eyes almost on the branch. What was he looking for so closely? Do I examine God’s Word, His creation like this? Do I pay attention to the ways He is speaking to me? Do I hear Him?
One morning in January, Father was very really tangible as He gave me the gift of a full moon in the black morning sky out my kitchen window. Somehow, it wasn’t just a moon that morning. It was a gift from the Lover of my soul. That night, I saw the full moon out the window on the other side of the house. I sensed Him saying, “Just as I encased my celebration feasts with the full moons of Passover and Tabernacles, I have ‘enclosed you behind and before and laid My hand upon you.’ [Psalm 139:5]” To which I said, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it.” [Psalm 139:6]
He also speaks to us through our circumstances, through preachers and teachers, and other believers speaking confirmation. He speaks through dreams, visions and visual images, divine appointments, words of wisdom, and sometimes angels who attend to you “unawares.”
I pray the Lord opens our eyes to know His nearness!
